I don't understand these subtitles. What the fuck does he mean every time he says "people our ancestor" like what the hell I am so confused.

Tan Yun was referring to founder of the sect and the masters after the founder, the literal translation would be Master Ancestor.
To summarise this episode Tan Yun is saying he is the founder's descendant disciple (and everyone is as well) and that the Divine Beast division elder is not above the law, he wasnt the one who founded the sect and by trying to kill him, the elder is disobeying the law set by the founder/Master Ancestor, everyone is equal regardless if he is the grandson or an outer sect disciple, since all have the same founder/master ancestor

By the end of the episode, after he started talking about the rules, I was able to vaguely deduce what he actually meant. Thanks for explaining.

Personally I feel Chinese is one of the hardest if not the hardest language to learn, especially since the studio is using a the format of formal speech and not colloquial, so you get plenty of lines using idioms/adages, poetry style talk which makes it harder to translate

Subtitles are messed up sometimes but they're clear enough to be understood, you just have to think more and connect the dots to understand more what he's trying to say, I've been watching donghua shows for 4 years and there's no improvement on alot of donghua subtitles at all because they're not totally accurate but the more you understand how the story goes you'll be able to understand some messages that were hard to understand at first.
